ABOUT US

The Real Property Tax Advocacy Group (RPTAG) was founded and is managed by Bart Lansky Esq. and Michael Berman Esq. The founders met in the Fall of 1989 while attending the University of Pennsylvania. They formed the RPTAG and this website to demystify New York’s property tax system, and to advise owners of personal and commercial property of their tax-grievance rights, and provide a vehicle by which our experienced advocates can work to significantly lower your property taxes — with no out-of-pocket cost to you. We stand by our simple guarantee: “If we don’t save you money on your property tax bill, you pay nothing!” RPTAG and the partnership of its principles utilizes to your advantage the firm’s expertise in litigation, housing, accounting, valuation, and construction. As such, we are uniquely situated to handle real property tax-grievance cases and commercial tax-petitions of all sizes. The firm maintains offices in White Plains, Long Island, and Manhattan, and benefits from Mr. Berman’s and Mr. Lansky’s extensive academic and work experience:

Michael Eric Berman, Esq. received his Bachelor of Sciences degree in Economics with a concentration in Accounting from the Wharton Business School (magna cum laude) and a Juris Doctorate degree from the Law School at University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Berman has practiced commercial and real-estate litigation since 1997 and has represented and served as the General Counsel for several of the largest developers and owners of real estate on Long Island. Mr. Berman is also an active member of the National Association of Consumer Advocates -- a not-forprofit entity that fights for consumers' rights in all aspects of law. Mr. Berman is also licensed to practice law in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Bart Gavin Lansky Esq. received a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies with a concentration in Real Estate from the University of Pennsylvania, an Urban Planning Certificate (cum laude) from the Graduate School of Architecture Planning and Preservation at Columbia University, a Master’s in Regional Planning (summa cum laude) from the University of Albany and a Juris Doctorate (cum laude) from Albany Law School. Prior to obtaining his law license Mr. Lansky spent fifteen years working in the fields of construction management, property management and real estate valuation. Mr. Lansky lives in and manages the White Plains office and primarily services clients in New York City, Westchester and Putnam County.

In addition, RPTAG has confident relationships with other seasoned professionals —including (1) CPA’s — to help prepare income-approach and other appraisal analyses to support our commercial tax-grievance petitions, (2) Licensed Property Appraisers and (3) Licensed Home Inspectors.
